Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 09/07/2019

Brilliant day at the watch point. At one point all of the peregrines were flying around the spire, making for a spectacular air display!

Weather was overcast.

9.30 A juvenile flies West.

9.40 A juvenile lands on the nest box.

9.44 Juveniles play fight South of the spire.

9.50 GA is spotted 3 up from the bottom of the spire. YS is above the West middle window. L7 flies to the nest box and eats remains of the prey.

10.00 YL spotted on the East plucking window. The male is also seen 2 down from the top on the North side plucking something.

10.35 Male is seen flying from the East to the North side of the spire.

10.37 Male stoops at a gull, flies around to the East of the spire on patrol, before returning to the North side.

10.50 Male flies up to golden bales with plucked prey, calls to L7 who flies up to the eat it. Male then flies off to the West.

10.55 L7 takes food and flies off North behind the nave.

11.55 Male brings back prey and does a food pass to the juvenile on the East window. The juvenile then flies round to the North side of the spire.

11.56 Juvenile flies East. GA is still 3 crockets up from the bottom of spire.

12.10 Male flies off.

13.00 L7 spotted on golden bales, then moves to the North side of the spire.

13.07 L7 flies North.

13.33 Juvenile flies around spire then las on the North side.

13.40 GA, a juvenile and the male all fly around the spire. GA lands on the golden bales. The juvenile then lands on the North plucking window, joined by the male shortly after on the East side.

13.50 Juvenile lands 1 crocket down on the East side of the plucking window next to the male.

13.54 Another juvenile then flies around to the North side near the male.

14.05 A juvenile flies in and lands on West side plucking window.

14.09 A juvenile female then flies in with prey and lands on North side.

14.21 All three juveniles are in the air. One female lands on the golden bales. L7 and the other female juvenile fly over the watch point. The female juvenile then joins her sister on the golden bales. L7 flies out of sight.

14.30 All of the peregrines fly up. There is an attempted food pass between GA and the male, but the prey is dropped. Male lands 6 crockets down on the East side for a few minutes. The adult peregrines then fly around to the North side of the spire. One juvenile is still flying, the other two juveniles land on the golden bales again.

14.43 Two juveniles fly up from the golden bales and circle the spire.

14.58 The male circles the spire and lands 2 down on the North side. GA also circles the spire and lands next to the male.

15.37 A peregrine flies past the cathedral from the East to the West.
