Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 19/06/2019

Weather was overcast but not as rainy as expected which allowed the peregrines, both adults and juveniles, to put on a good show!

10.00 GA is 2 crockets down from the middle windows on the West side. The male is 2 crockets down from the top on the West side.

10.08 Male drops down and flies low to the North side of the spire.

10.21 Three juveniles are on the North West side: One on the pinnacle, one is 3 crockets up and one is 1 crocket above the middle windows.

10.25 The male returns and lands on the North side.

10.34 The male leaves, catches a pigeon and lands below the nest box to pluck it.

11.00 Male leaves and lands 4 crockets below the nest box.

11.40 GA flies off to the South, then circles to the crocket below the East plucking window.

12.50 One juvenile flies South, the other two play fight in the air, before landing on the North West and North East pinnacles.

12.57 The flying juvenile returns, lands on the South East pinnacle and eats some stored food. It then flies off to the East.

13.00 GA lands 2 crockets below the nest box and the male lands in the nest box.

13.24 All 3 juveniles play fight and then land back on the spire.

13.30 A juvenile chases and mobs a gull, before landing on the North East pinnacle.

13.45 A juvenile is spotted on the base on the North West pinnacle.

14.04 A juvenile is 3 crockets below the plucking window.

14.13 Both adults fly off West and over the watch point.

14.18 A juvenile also flies West.

14.27 A juvenile lands in the nest box and another joins it.

14.43 Male returns and lands 2 crockets down from the top.

14.48 Both adults mob a buzzard to the South and then return to the spire: The male is 1 crocket down on the East, and GA is 1 crocket below the West plucking window.

14.56 A juvenile lands below another juvenile, 3 crockets down from the top.

15.03 Both parents fly North.

15.14 GA returns with prey accompanied by the male. GA passes food to a juvenile who takes it to the South East pinnacle. The male lands below the nest box and GA lands 3 crockets above the middle windows on the West side. One juvenile lands 3 crockets below the East plucking window.

15.45 GA flies to the South.

15.55 The male flies South, and then returns and lands 1 crocket above the nest box.

16.00 The day finishes with 30 long-tailed tits flying past the watch point to the tree next to us!
