Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 04/06/2019

Interesting day at the watch point with lots of great activity. The chicks were really testing the limits with plenty of wing flapping and hopping onto the ledge of the nest box, making for some tense watching!

Weather was bright and sunny in the morning, then light rain in the afternoon.

9.50 GA is 3 crockets down on the South side of the spire.

10.05 Male flies to North West while GA flies and lands below the plucking window. Male then returns to the North side of the spire.

10.08 Male mobs several crows near the spire to the West! Afterwards he returns to the East side of the spire 2 crockets down.

10.28 GA flies around and lands 3 crockets down on the South side.

10.50 GA flies around again and then lands 4 crockets down from the plucking window.

11.04 The female chick YL flaps her wings and nudges L7 who is resting.

11.15 GA flies to the South, then returns to the spire 4 crockets down on the South side.

11.22 Male leaves North side of spire and flies North East.

11.37 Male returns and lands on the North side of the spire, while GA flies off East.

11.45 GA returns and lands 2 crockets down on the South East.

11.55 Male flies off to the West.

12.17 Male returns and flies North while GA flies South East again.

12.44 Male returns with nothing to show for it and flies South East. GA returns and lands on the top of the plucking window crocket.

12.56 GA flies up and lands on the golden bales.

13.10 GA flies around and lands 3 crockets down from plucking window. The male lands near the area where the fledged chick YS is.

13.13 Male appears with food scrap from base of spire and GA angrily calls to him for a food pass but he leaves to the East at great speed while GA follows in pursuit.

13.18 GA returns with the prey she took from the male and takes it to the golden bales to pluck it. Male then returns and lands below plucking window.

13.29 GA lands in the nest box with food after 2 attempts and feeds the chicks who try to grab the food off her.

13.34 GA flies out and lands 2 crockets above the nest box on the East side.

14.10 Male flies to the West.

14.30 The chicks start to flap their wings and hopping onto the ledge of the nest box.

15.00 Rain causes the chicks to hunker down.
