Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 22/05/2019

Great activity today at the peregrine watch point, the intruder peregrine from yesterday returned but was routed quickly. The chicks are still growing, one even looked over the edge of the nest box!

Weather was bright and sunny.

9.45 GA is on top of the nest box camera, while the male is 2 crockets down from the top of the spire.

10.28 The intruder peregrine from yesterday returns! It flies around to the North attempting to land on the spire, prompting a very vocal GA and male to pursue it. The intruder quickly leaves and is chased off the North East.

10.32 The male returns to the golden bales.

10.41 Male flies to the 2nd crocket down.

10.47 The intruder peregrine is spotted flying from the South West to the North East. The male takes no action.

10.56 GA returns and lands 2 crockets down from the top. The male then flies up and lands 4 crockets down, before flying North West.

11.20 GA flies off to the East.

11.31 GA returns and lands on top of the nest box window apex.

11.50 Male returns and lands 2 crockets down from the golden bales on the East side. GA then flies off to the East.

12.20 Male flies off and disappears.

12.30 Male returns and lands on the golden bales.

12.35 2 lesser black backed gulls fly overhead being chased by GA, causing the male to fly up to assist in the pursuit. Afterwards GA lands 2 crockets up from the nest box, before flying off to the North.

13.00 The male returns and lands 2 crockets down from the top.

13.10 The male then flies off to the North East.

13.14 GA returns with prey to the golden bales and plucks it. The male returns and lands 2 crockets down from the top.

13.30 After plucking, GA flies to the nest box with prey and feeds the chicks.

13.39 Male flies up to the golden bales.

13.41 The male flies up and lands 5 crockets down from plucking window.

14.00 Male then flies North and GA lands 2 crockets down from nest box after feeding her chicks.

14.23 GA flies around the spire and lands 2 crockets down from the plucking window on the East side.

14.39 The male returns and lands 2 crockets from the top of the spire.

14.46 The male then flies off and GA takes his spot.

15.00 GA flies off next and disappears.

15.16 GA returns and lands on the golden bales and eats some cached food.

15.30 GA lands on top of the nest box window apex again.

15.35 The male returns and lands 2 crockets down from the top.

15.38 GA leaves and heads South.

15.50 GA returns and chases a gull to the North!
