Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 17/05/2019

A bit of a gloomy day at the watch point which didn't impress our peregrine couple who stayed in the cover of the plucking window to avoid the afternoon rainy mist.

Weather was overcast with light rainy mist in the afternoon.

9.45 GA is the ledge on the nest box, while the male is 2 crockets down on the East.

10.00 GA takes cached food to the golden bales. Male flies off South West.

10.08 Male is seen flying about to the West, then lands 2 crockets down. GA calls down to him.

10.15 Male moves 3 crockets down.

10.17 Both adults fly around spire. GA lands 2 crockets down on the West while the male lands in the nest box and feeds the chicks.

10.28 GA chases a gull to the South! She then returns to the 2nd crocket down.

10.47 GA flies around and perches above the middle window. The male flies off to the West.

11.00 Male returns with prey and does a food pass with GA. The peregrines then ward off 2 gulls who attempt to trespass.

11.02 The adults return from patrol, the male lands 2 crockets down while GA goes back to the golden bales to pluck prey.

11.24 Male flies up to the golden bales to pluck prey while GA moves to the 5th crocket down on the West side.

11.49 Male does a food pass with GA and both of them head East. Male returns later to the 4th crocket down on the West. GA lands on the golden bales and plucks prey again.

11.57 Male moves to the crocket above the plucking window.

12.10 GA moves to the crocket above the male.

12.26 Male intercepts a strikes a gull to the South West! Male returns and lands on the plucking window ledge.

13.05 Male lands on 7 crockets down on the East side. Then he briefly lands in the nest box then on top of the camera. There is some wing flapping from the largest chick who moves to the West side of the box under it's father.

13.40 Male swoops down after gull who gets too close to the nest.

14.40 Male stoops to the South West and then returns to the crocket above the middle window.

15.42 Male chases a gull off and returns to spire.
