Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 16/05/2019

Lovely sunny day at the watch point!

9.30 The male is 2 crockets down on the West side of the spire. GA is in the nest box with her chicks.

10.17 Male flies off and lands on the golden bales, takes some stored food and then enters the nest. He then feeds the chicks, with GA next to him.

10.27 Male takes leftover food and flies North East.

10.28 Male lands 3 crockets down on the West side.

10.31 Male suddenly flies off West at great speed.

10.35 Male returns and lands 2 crockets down on the West side.

10.49 Male flies off again, this time toward the South at speed.

10.52 GA flies East, leaving her chicks unattended.

10.55 GA returns and sits 4 crockets down on the East side before returning to the nest box.

11.10 The male hunts pigeons around the spire but misses. He then cruises around the cathedral close.

11.18 Male lands 2 crockets down on the West side.

12.06 The male mobs a gull to the South East and lands on the North side of the spire. GA is up on the ledge of the nest.

12.09 Male enters the nest with a scrap of food from the plucking window. GA takes it and feeds the chicks while the male leaves and lands 2 crockets down on the West side.

12.15 GA flies East with leftover food and leaves the chicks unattended again.

12.20 GA returns and lands 2 crockets down from the top window on the West side.

12.36 The male mobs an overhead buzzard to the West.

12.39 GA moves 2 crockets down on the East side of the spire, while the male flies by and heads off South.

12.44 Male returns and lands on the nest box.

12.45 Male flies off again and lands 2 crockets down on the West side before flying off yet again.

12.50 GA and the male are seen flying around the cathedral close, GA finally lands 1 crocket above the top window.

13.30 GA leaves the upper window, flies around and lands on the 4th crocket down on the left.

13.38 GA flies off again.

14.02 GA returns briefly then flies off to the East.

14.15 GA lands on the 2nd crocket down on the left.

14.30 GA flies South.

14.33 Both adult peregrines circle around the spire and then fly off South.

15.10 Male lands on the ledge of the nest box. GA flies around and chases a gull off to the West!

15.20 GA returns carrying a pigeon to the golden bales and plucks it. The male lands on the 2nd crocket down.

15.35 GA eats some of the pigeon on the golden bales.

15.40 GA flies down to the nest box.

15.55 Both adults leave the spire for a final fly around before disappearing.
