Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 14/05/2019

Another great day at the watch point, with plenty of action from our resident peregrines. The chicks grow bigger and bolder every day!

Weather was hot and sunny!

9.30 GA is on nest while the male is 2 crockets down from the top of the spire.

9.45 GA hops onto the edge of the nest box.

10.01 The male flies off, GA also takes flight around the cathedral. She lands 2 crockets down on the West side.

10.25 GA moves to the window above nest box.

10.30 Male returns and lands on the edge of the nest box. GA leaves and flies around the spire, landing on the 2nd crocket down on the West.

10.31 Male moves into the nest box.

10.40 GA moves to the 2nd crocket down on the East side of the spire.

11.05 GA flies off the spire heading South.

11.12 GA returns to the 2nd crocket down on the West side of the spire.

11.20 GA flies East.

11.23 GA returns to the nest box, while the male lands on the golden bales.

11.25 Both the male & GA fly off and circle the spire.

11.30 Male returns to the West side of the spire 6 crockets down.

11.31 GA lands on the 2nd crocket down on the West side of the spire, while the male flies off to the South.

11.45 Male returns 6 crockets down on the front right of the spire. GA flies to the East while the chicks call from the nest.

11.48 Male flies South.

11.51 GA returns and lands 2 crockets below plucking window.

12.05 Male returns and both peregrines suddenly fly off to the South.

12.22 Male returns and lands 3 crockets down from top window on the West side.

12.30 Male chases a gull to the South East, then flies to the South West.

12.39 GA returns and lands 2 crockets up from the nest box, while the male lands in the box.

12.44 Both peregrines fly off to the South East.

13.30 Male lands 2 crockets down from the top, then flies off to the East.

13.38 Male returns and lands 3 crockets down from the plucking window.

13.40 GA is spotted flying by and off to the East.

13.55 Male lands on the ledge of the nest box before heading off to the South East.

14.00 GA is seen flying around to the West.

14.18 GA returns and lands on the ledge of the nest box, then flies off to the South.

14.20 Both peregrines fly around the spire. The male lands 3 crockets down from the top while GA lands on the golden bales and plucks some stored prey item.

14.24 GA flies to the nest box with food and feeds her chicks.

15.00 Both adult peregrines chase after a gull to the South West. They return quickly afterwards.

15.05 The gull comes back again, this time from the West so the male intercepts and forces it away. GA takes leftover food to the North side of the spire.

15.14 GA lands 2 crockets down on the East side, while the male returns and lands on the North side.

15.21 GA stoops down suddenly to the North East.

15.23 Both peregrines are then seen flying around the cathedral spire. The male chases off yet another gull and afterwards lands 5 crockets down on the East side, while GA lands back on the golden bales.

15.38 GA flies around the spire, then lands 2 crockets down on the East, then moves 6 crockets down.

15.41 GA flies off to the East.

15.50 Male flies off to the South East.

15.52 Male returns to the nest box ledge.
