Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 06/05/2019

Today was an exiciting day because of the Norwich parade, which allowed many people to come and see our peregrine couple feeding the growing chicks!

Weather was overcast, cold, light rain and hail showers in the afternoon.

9.30 GA incubating. Male is 2 crockets down on the East side of the spire.

9.50 2 buzzards fly over and are chased off by the male.

9.55 Incubation change over! GA lands on the West side of the spire.

10.00 GA lands in the nest and feeds her chicks.

10.45 Male returns to the 2nd crocket down.

10.55 Male brings some food to the nest, then feeds GA and the chicks.

11.05 The male continues to feed the chicks.

11.10 Male then flies off the nest and lands 9 crockets down on the East side.

12.20 GA feeds her chicks with some of the leftover food from the nest box.

12.50 Male flies off to the North.

13.00 Male lands on the crocket North of the box, flies around the spire, then perches just below the plucking window.

13.25 Male brings food to the nest and feeds the chicks again.

13.40 Male leaves the nest with leftover food and lands on the crocket below the nest on the North side.

15.00 Male flies to the North side of the spire, brings food (from the cache on the North side?) to the nest box. Then he lands on the crocket above the nest box.

15.03 Male moves down to the 4th crocket down on the South side of the spire.

15.30 Incubation change over! GA lands on the 2nd crocket down on the West. The male incubates but the chicks are so big now that he struggles to cover them completely.
