Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 11/04/2019

A little drama with another female peregrine swooping near the cathedral!

Weather was overcast with some sun.

9.30 GA is incubating. The male is on his usual spot 2 crockets down on the spire.

9.50 Male suddenly flies off, and is gone for a while.

10.00 GA moves off eggs, rubs her chin on the gravel and then returns to resume incubation.

10.30 Male returns, and lands 2 crockets down,

10.46 Male starts to preen.

11.00 Male stoops South, then returns to his favourite spot 2 crockets down on West side of spire.

11.45 Male leaves cathedral, on patrol.

12.00 Incubation change over! A relieved GA lands on the 3rd crocket down, on West side of spire.

12.35 GA preens on West spire.

13.19 No change.

14.00 No change. Still no activity from either peregrine.

15.00 No change, GA still 3 crockets down.

15.07 A bit of drama: a female peregrine falcon (possibly one of last year's juveniles) is spotted flying around the spire. At first there was some confusion if this was GA, but she was still on her spot 3 crockets down with the male still incubating. A few minutes pass before GA chases off the juvenile, both of them heading West.

15.29 GA returns after chasing off intruder, and perches on the 2nd crocket down on the West side of the spire.
