Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 10/04/2019

Lovely day for some peregrine watching! It was a busy day due to the family event at the cathedral. The BBC local news crew even came to have a look. Hopefully we have inspired the next generation of bird watchers!

Weather was nice and sunny but with a cold wind.

7.41 GA is seen over the cathedral close chasing a black-backed gull, with prey in her talons she then returns to the very top of the spire to pluck it.

8.10 GA leaves the spire to swoop over the Dean's House. She does several circuits of the spire and then returns to the West side of the spire 3 crockets down from the top. Meanwhile the male is incubating.

9.45 No change.

10.10 The male and GA swap incubation duties. The male sits 2 crockets down.

10.15 The male takes some food from the larder and lands 4 crockets down and eats it.

10.27 Male moves to the West side of the spire and continues to eat.

11.08 The male is 2 crockets down from the spire.

11.25 The male flies North and returns to his favourite spot 2 crockets down.

12.08 The male stoops South.

12.35 Male returns and lands 2 crockets down.

12.40 The male drifts around the spire and then gets more food from the larder, taking it down 4 crockets to eat.

13.22 The male cleans his beak, flies around the cathedral and lands in his favourite spot 2 crockets down.

13.24 GA moves off the eggs, rubs her chin on the gravel in the nest and then returns to incubation.

13.35 Male flies South.

14.00 Male returns and lands 2 crockets down on the West side of spire.

14.20 Males flies West/North West.

14.35 The male returns to his usual spot.

14.50 The male flies around the cathedral and then off over Bishop's Garden.

15.00 No change. GA is still incubating and has now been doing so for 5 hours.

16.00 Still no change.
