Last week Beavers were released at Sculthorpe Moor!
It’s been a long process preparing for the arrival of two Eurasian Beavers at the reserve. Countless hours have been spent, planning, prepping, purchasing, acquiring, fundraising, building, scaping, and constructing the 20ha enclosure, surrounded by 2km of fencing, a new hide, silt traps, and artificial Beaver lodges.
Special guests at the release included Sandra King CEO of The Beaver Trust, Zelda Baveystock head of the Green Recovery Challenge Fund, Dr Roisin Cambell-Palmer Author of The Eurasian Beaver Handbook, Phil Holms & Matthew Kimber Board of Trustees Hawk and Owl Trust, Michael Gurney retired sheriff of Norfolk, Lisa Goddard, Ezra Luca Natural England, and the lovely Jaquline Wyatt Volunteer at Sculthorpe Moor and generous benefactor.
We give special thanks to all that have worked on this exciting project. From contractors, staff, and all of our hard-working volunteers. This project has been possible because of the tireless efforts of the people involved!
Thanks also to Defra UK, Heritage Fund UK, Environment Agency, and Natural England for making this project possible!
