Seamus O’Dowd, Volunteer Coordinator at Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve, was able to take some images of progress at the new hide that’s being built at the reserve’s new wetlands area.

The images show the rear, front, and side of the Hide. To the front of the hide a balcony area is being created to allow maintenance access to staff, the entry point to the hide will be central to the back of the structure and accessible via a ramp.

The side view shows the distinctive cladding in progress. This fresh larch timber will soon weather to a silver and grey hue blending into its natural surroundings.

There will be an addition of three bridges that will allow users to gain access to the wetlands area over the main drain that runs along Oak Fen and The Ride. A further bridge will be created to the side of Oak Fen behind the new hide to grant access to new boardwalk that will open up a new area of woodland.

Green: The new boardwalk
Brown: Existing boardwalk

This new loop will join The Scrape footbath via another bridge. Pictured below is a temporary structure granting volunteers and workers access to the new woodland loop area.
