<video:title>Barn Owl Live - A live stream from a Barn Owl box on the Somerset Levels, UK #owl #birds #somerset</video:title>
<video:description><![CDATA[A live stream from a Barn Owl box on the Somerset Levels.

Just a reminder. This is a wild, none intervention Barn Owl box. We would appreciate it if the location was kept secret. Too many people seem to already know where this box is located.

Barn Owls exhibit a brood reduction strategy characterized by asynchronous hatching and facultative siblicide, which functions as a form of bet-hedging in unpredictable environments.
By initiating incubation with the first egg laid, hatching occurs sequentially, resulting in a size and developmental gradient among siblings.
Parental food allocation often favours the older, more competitive nestlings, thereby increasing the probability that at least one offspring will survive.

As such, we may see the last chicks to hatch, not survive. This is nature and happens in almost every Barn Owl box across the world.

Below are the various important dates relating to this box.
