Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Activity Log 26/06/2019

The weather certainly has been interesting these past couple of days. Today was breezy with no sun throughout the day. The weather also had an impact on our peregrines, who prefer calmer conditions. Still, that didn't stop them from putting on a splendid display late afternoon!

9.45 Two juveniles are on the nesting platform. GA is 2 crockets above the top window. The male is perched in a roundel.

10.20 One juvenile leaves the nest platform and flies off to the West with the 3rd juvenile.

10.35 GA leaves the spire and flies East.

10.40 Male leaves the roundel.

10.55 GA returns and lands 2 crockets down from the golden bales.

11.05 Male stoops at a swift around the spire, and then flies off to the East.

11.36 GA vanishes from her perch.

12.09 YS moves 2 crockets up from the nest box. Another juvenile lands on the golden bales.

12.25 The male lands on the nest box briefly, and then flies off to the East again.

12.48 GA appears and lands 2 crockets down from the top of the spire.

12.54 Two juveniles fly around the spire and then off to the East.

13.03 A juvenile lands on the left pinnacle. Another juvenile lands on the golden bales.

13.22 A juvenile lands below the top window.

14.09 The male arrives with food and two juveniles fly up to do a food pass with him but the male heads around the North side of the spire, quickly followed by the juveniles. GA also returns and lands 2 down from the top of the spire. YS lands in the nest box.

14.34 YS flies up and lands below the left middle window.

15.27 YS flies South over the watch point.

15.31 The male appears over to the South with YS and does a food pass with her. The prey turns out to be a jackdaw and YS has difficulty carrying it back to the spire. She lands on the nave with her food and tries to balance on it but it slides down the roof out of sight and YS hops down after it.

15.37 The other two juveniles fly over the cloisters where YS was seen with her prey. The male is spotted below the plucking window and GA lands 4 crockets down from him.

15.50 A juvenile is seen on the left pinnacle. GA lands 3 crockets up from the middle window on the left side. YS reclaims her dropped food and flies over to the West to eat it.
